Pieces of Maryland's ACC basketball schedule filling in

← return to D1SCOURSE

So far, Boston College, Florida State, North Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest have announced their tentative ACC opponents; North Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest have offered tentative dates for each game. The league will have an 18-game conference schedule for the first time this season, which means each school have seven home-and-homes, two home-only opponents and two road-only opponents.

Last week, Maryland coach Mark Turgeon said he believed his team’s single-game opponents were Clemson, Georgia Tech, Miami and N.C. State, though he was not fully certain. The five team releases in the last week, coupled with Turgeon’s comment to ESPN.com last month that the Terps would face Duke twice, back up his recollection.

(EDIT, 11:44 a.m.: Miami released its ACC schedule this morning; the Hurricanes play host to Maryland in mid-January):

In any case, here’s a look at what’s known about Maryland’s 2012-13 schedule, which Turgeon said was complete when he spoke to reporters last week:

Nov. 9: vs. Kentucky in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Nov. 27: at Northwestern

Dec. 2: vs. George Mason in BB&T Classic

Up to eight more nonconference games

Jan. 12/13: at Miami
Jan. 19/20:
at North Carolina

Feb. 2/3: Wake Forest
Feb. 9/10: Virginia

March 2/3: at Wake Forest
March 5/6/7: North Carolina
March 9/10: at Virginia

Home-and-homes: Boston College, Duke (per ESPN.com) and Florida State
