The Obama campaign made it clear Sunday: No apologies for Vice President Joseph R. Biden.
Stephanie Cutter, deputy campaign manager, said on CNN the vice president’s controversial “put y’all back in chains” remark may have been a “distraction,” but the point he was making is valid.
Responding to an editorial in the Boston Globe calling for Mr. Biden to apologize, Ms. Cutter said the controversy over the comments is “a distraction.”
“I think the words distracted from a larger point,” she said on “State of the Union.”
“Mitt Romney complaining and whining about the tone of this race is completely hypocritical,” she said.
