Test reveals Soehn only had bronchitis

D.C. United coach Tom Soehn has recovered from a bout of the flu, and tests over the weekend showed he did not have the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu.

Soehn got sick Friday morning before his team’s training session and missed United’s scoreless tie with the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday night. Blood test results Monday came back negative for the H1N1 virus. He was diagnosed with bronchitis and was back at practice.

“I’m feeling much better,” said Soehn, who is in his third year with the club. “I was disappointed not to be at the game Saturday night, but I’m good to go now.”

Assistant coach Mark Simpson had bronchitisearlier last week after the team returned from a road trip, which included stops in Canada and Honduras. Assistant coach Chad Ashton ran the team in Soehn’s place against the Galaxy.
