Montgomery County police have charged a teen driver who pulled a rifle on another driver in a road rage incident in Gaithersburg.
Kenneth Johnson, 18, from the Gaithersburg area, was arrested Tuesday and charged with first- and second-degree assault. He was released on bond.
The incident occurred at about 7:20 a.m. Feb. 8, while Mr. Johnson and another driver were traveling on Sam Eig Highway between the Intercounty Connector and Great Seneca Highway, police said.
Mr. Johnson and the other driver got into an argument over Mr. Johnson’s driving, and police said Mr. Johnson pulled a rifle from his back seat and held it as if he was going to shoot.
Mr. Johnson fled after the other driver pulled out a cell phone. The other driver gave police a description of Mr. Johnson’s car and a license plate number. Police obtained a warrant and searched Mr. Johnson’s car, where they found the rifle.
