LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Real cost of illegals

President Obama has proved once again that his choice for Homeland Security secretary is incompetent and confused daily about her job and how to conduct business (“Fee waivers on work permits for illegals could cost $121M,” Web, Tuesday). This situation also perpetuates the Obama administration’s program of amnesty for criminals illegally in the United States.

The amount mentioned in the headline of the story proves to be only pocket change when compared with later information. If the media would only research the cost to taxpayers of illegal aliens, department by department, it would find that, we spend more than $1 trillion annually to support illegal aliens hiding in the United States.

How much good could our government do for the American taxpayer by halving that amount? How about putting it into Social Security for a change?
