Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. says last week’s contempt vote in the House was politically motivated (“House makes history in Holder contempt,” Page 1, Friday). When Richard Nixon’s vice president, Spiro Agnew, was accused of taking bribes, he said the charge was politically motivated.
A charge may be politically motivated, but that doesn’t make the charge false. When Operation Fast and Furious documents eventually are made public, we may well learn Mr. Holder was up to his ears in a cover-up. Additionally, Mr. Holder has picked up the Nancy Pelosi conspiracy theory that the contempt charge was brought because he has been suing states over their laws requiring identification at polling places.
The Democrats are throwing everything against the wall to see what will stick.
