LOS ANGELES (AP) — The official Los Angeles County condom isn’t flavored and it doesn’t glow in the dark.
Instead, the million prophylactics being distributed by the health department to promote safe sex features a sophisticated bow-tie design inviting users to “Suit Up.”
The free condom program is designed to make prophylactics easily accessible to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.
The Los Angeles Daily News (http://bit.ly/MX0O2c ) says health officials on Thursday unveiled the winning design for LA’s Next Sex Symbol. The bow-tie image with the words “Suit Up” won over about 500 entries.
One of the runners-up resembled a Hollywood Walk of Fame star with gender symbols for heterosexual and homosexual couples and the slogan “Safe Sex Star.”
Another losing entry displayed the word Hollywood with “wood” wrapped in a purple condom.
